Blue ray discs are used to store data’s, record songs, store movies and many more with high definition video quality and increased space storage. Blue ray technology offers more than five times the storage capacity of the older DVDs. Its offers storage in two layers. Each layer can store up to 25GB, so the total storage capacity would be 50GB. Now 20 layered blue ray discs are also available which would have a storage capacity of 500GB. Traditional DVDs use simple red layer to write and read data but blue ray rely on the blue –violet laser. The advantage of the blue laser is that the wave length is much shorter than ordinary red laser. This helps to focus on the thinner spots for higher precision. As a result tighter storage of data can be done.
